Works Great! here's how I installed it
I almost didn't buy this after reading other reviews. We just re-screened our back porch and didn't want our 60lb pit knocking panels out. It took me ~15 min to install.step 1- apply inside half to screen using a box cutter to help the pegs through.step 2- cut little squares out over the receiving holes so everything lines up nicely.step 3- apply the other half on the outside and start pressing the two together steadily from the top down- this way all of the pegs engage.step 4- make your cuts for the door- (side, bottom, side)step 5- go around the edges with a pair of channel locks to make sure everything is completely seated. No extra bolts or glue neededOur dog figured it out in no time and the door is holding up really well. If you don't have a solid door for a typical dog door this is a pretty sweet alternative.

Spend more and get a better door
I was looking to purchase something for my 40 lb beagle mix girl to use and give her access to the yard. After reading mixed reviews I decided to give it a try. This door is mediocre. After struggling to install it the first time (even with taking the door off and laying it flat) I went back and read some of the other reviews. Someone else posted a review with helpful tips about how to install it and that was very helpful. It really seems like at first the door refuses to snap together through the screen. It would not go through the holes. I took a small screwdriver and started enlarging the holes in the screen. That helped a bit. I layed the door flat and proceeded to try to snap the two pieces together and pound them together with a hammer. This seemed to work as I was able to get the pieces to finally snap together. I'm not sure how long this is going to last though. It seems like with regular usage the pieces are going to start to separate over time, but we'll have to see. Also, the tension on the swinging part of the door is pretty tight. My dog was reluctant to go through it at first as she had to push kind of hard to go through. I guess she'll get used to it.My advice would be to spend more and get a better quality door that installs more easily. I wouldn't be surprised if I have to replace this door within the next few months.

Screen Dog Door
Bought a door like this in 2009 for around $13 (brand name Gateway) and over the years three dogs have used it. My husband was so glad I bought it, but he did have to attach self locking screws after our dogs bolted out, knocking the door off the track and of course the 2 plastic sides came apart. Once the locking screws were put in place it was fine. Our dogs trying to get out the door in a hurry are all 40 lbs each. The opening on ours is 12 inch wide and 16 inch height, not including the outer frame that is attached to the screen. As you can see we are ready for a new one, last year one of the tabs broke, it's still being used daily though. On a very windy day the door blowing in will have an inch gap.THIS DOG DOOR I RECENTLY GOT TO REPLACE THE ONE I HAD FOR MANY YEARS IS NOT MADE THE SAME. THE PLASTIC IS A SHINY BLACK, IT LOOKS BETTER BUT IS NOT DURABLE. WE ARE SO DISAPPOINTED, OUR FIRST ONE LASTED FOR YEARS. THE PLASTIC IS DIFFERENT ON THIS ONE. THE DOG DOOR WITH THE DULL LOOKING BLACK PLASTIC TABS HELD UP FOR YEARS. THE TABS ON THIS NEW DOOR BROKE IN A MONTH.

Like most people
Like most people, over time we had to install small screws to hold the pieces together. It's on it 2nd year and the top support brackets that force the door to close as soon as the dog passes through have broken, but the screen still keeps it holding the door on so it still works, only now it swings back and forth many times as gravity eventually keeps it closed. I imagine that back and forth motion is not good for the screen, thinking it would eventually break, but 4 months have passed now and it's still holding up well. I like the door, it's a cheap alternative to the window door and our dog loves it.

A Dream!! Easy Install Looks Great!
After reading the reviews I was skeptical... I ordered anyway and boy was I pleasantly surprised! I think the problems people were experiencing were human error. Honestly I couldn't find an easier install. Seriously, if your screen door is already up take it down, snap down the door, you cannot install this with the door already up.... It literally just snaps onto the screen. Use a rubber mallet to tap the entire thing down then a box cutter for the hole and poof! All done! No need for screws, no need for more than one person, no need for glue... I am 4 ft 11, took down the door myself, installed in less than 30 min due to putting new screen over the entire door... My fiancé was impressed! The dogs took a little coaxing to get in and out after the first few min, treats helped. It's holding up fine even with our rambunctious bulldog.

It works well and looks nice too.
This pet door works great. It allows the dogs to go in and out while keeping the screen shut and the bugs outside. The instructions are simple, but read through them a few times before you start. You need to take the screen off the track and lay it down on a flat surface in order to get the two halves of the door to seem together properly and as the instructions suggested I had to use a hammer (rubber mallet, tapping all edges and middle of pet door lightly) to get the two sides to lock together. I have had one corner come open, using a block of wood on one side and tapping the other side with the mallet i got them to lock back together and have not had any more problems. I am back to up date my review. The above is all true, but after 9 months the top hinges of the pet door broke and soon after the two halves would not stay together, so my choice is to rescreen the fram or try to fix this which i think I can with some small nuts and bolts. So I gave it a five, but now that I have to deal with it again or replace it I give it a two.

Not a long term solution - in the trash after only a few months of use.
I originally gave this product four stars - I thought it was great. Installation was a little tricky but with the help of other reviews we got it in and absolutely loved it. However, after owning the thing for less than 6 months it is about to be thrown away. Like the other reviews said, the pieces that look like hinges are not hinges at all, they are four plastic tabs that break off after swinging back and forth too many times. Now that 3 out of the four tabs have snapped off, the door doesn't swing open and closed evenly causing the surrounding screen to rip. I also am experiencing warping from the sun which causes the edges to come apart and not stay snapped together. Please note that the photo makes the door look a lot larger than it is, I can't imagine a full size lab or golden retriever using this size door. I have two soft coated wheaten terriers, both nearly 40 pounds and between 16 and 18 inches in height. They were able to use this door but again, I can't imagine anything bigger using it.

Simple solution to avoid putting a hole in the wall
This door works well for us, gives the dog independence when we're home and the ac or heat isn't on. It was easy to install and our 50 lb german shorthair fits easily through the large door. The recommended location for installation at the bottom corner of the door is good for stability, but makes it a little awkward for taller dogs having to duck to get through the door.Update: So it was a great temporary solution for us, but after a couple months the plastic door started to warp so that the two halves wouldn't pinch tightly together to hold it in place any longer. It continued to function for a while, but after about 4 months from installation it fell out of the door completely. I think if I were to try it again I would glue the two halves together when I installed it, but we're switching to an in-wall dog door instead.

Product is inferior and total garbage. First off it doesn't stay snapped together
People, save your time and money. Product is inferior and total garbage. First off it doesn't stay snapped together . Had to super glue it. Secondly, after my dog walked through swinging door. One of the plastic hinges broke and the other three are showing wear. Stay away from this product. Amazon will give me a refund after they receive the product. This will leave a huge hole in the screen until I replace the screen or buy a different product. I have purchased many products from Amazon with this being the worse product bought.

tricky install
Make sure you have small gauge screen and two strong people to install. or a small drill and some nuts and bolts. it starts by having the screen laying on the ground, well mine was already in place, and it was a thick gauge because of the dog making a new doorway from the smaller stuff. anyway, make sure everything lines up just right before you and the other person on the other side of the screen push, once the little prong gets bent you'll need to cut it off, it will never go into the hole on the other side. So that lasted about 1 week. then i tried to use epoxy to hold it together, that lasted about 1 month. so now I found the easiest way to keep it on the screen is this... just drill some holes through it and put some really small nuts and bolts on it. so far it's been 3 months and its held up to a boxer, 2 Australian sheep dogs, a Lab, a little white ankle bitter and 2 kids.

Can't be beat for the price
First, I spent hours pouring over previous reviews. In the end, I decided that even if this product was horrible, I was only out 25 bucks. And if it was great like others had said, well, all the better. Now, a month later, I couldn't be happier. Installation took about 35 minutes, but I'm a pretty handy gal. I did take the screen door off the hinges and used a mallet to pound the two sides together like others suggested, and I think this made a difference. However, I was prepared to use pliers and clamp the two sides together like others suggested, and I think that would've been fine as well. This dog door is going strong with my two large mixed breeds - one 55lb, one 75lb. The two top corners are starting to slightly come apart, but honestly, the pegs are holding and it's barely noticeable, and does not effect the functionality at all. The Florida sun is brutal and I really think that's all it is - the sun warping the plastic a little. The functionality IS NOT AFFECTED.I have standard screen on my lanai - just installed in the corner of my screen door as recommended by the manufacturer. It's really not rocket science. When training my two dogs to go through this door (they have never used a pet door before) they actually BOTH ended up coming through the door TOGETHER. At the SAME TIME. That's over 125lbs of dog coming through this simple pet door AT ONCE. And they've done the same thing a few times since then, and because of the flexible plastic and construction, there has been no damage whatsoever. This product is TOTALLY worth the money, and perfect for someone who needs a practical pet door.

Junk
The "hinges" on this are totally useless. They aren't actually a hinge, just a solid piece of thin plastic. So they bend to let the door open but then it just kind of hangs open about an inch all the time. This totally defeats the purpose of having screen at all because bugs can just fly in and out at their leisure.

Comes apart
Being a handy person I thought I could prevent the plastic pieces from coming apart. I added glue to the initial setup. The plastic still split apart. I ended up having to put about 10 small screws in it to bring it back together. My larger dog uses this door but my two small shit-Zus are afraid to go through it. When my larger dog goes through the door swings back and hits the smaller dogs in the face. The last complaint is that the door never really returns to being completely closed. It has just small plastic pieces for hinges so when those bend they keep the door open slightly. If you don't feel like using a drill and adding screws to this door I would not recommend purchasing it.

I would not recommend it.
After having this for about a year it has totally fallen apart. The pegs that snap together to hold both sides of the gate together have snapped off. I tried using plastic glue and that kind of helped. The flap also broke so it hangs crooked. It's a neat idea and I really wanted it to work, but sadly it doesn't hold up. And my dog didn't even use it that much. I can't imagine if she went in and out of it all day how quickly it would've fallen apart. I would not recommend it.
